Pharrell Reveals the Chunky Cortez-Like LV Buttersoft Sneaker

Having immersed himself in footwear for years prior to his current creative director appointment, it’s no surprise that sneakers are a huge focal point for . Last year, the multihyphenate introduced the brand’s low profile, football-style silhouette to the masses, before going on to poach one of the designers behind the ‘’, , from under Dior’s nose. Now, Williams has shared the next evolution from LV’s footwear line, the ButterSoft sneaker, via his @skateboard Instagram – which references plenty of sneaker history.

First up, it's impossible not to acknowledge just how much the new LV silhouette looks like a chunky version of the (or of course, the Onitsuka Tiger ), albeit in a much more exaggerated shape and a super-soft, luxury leather. Aside from the puffy proportions, the model boasts also the same shaped foam sole and toe cap. BBC Ice Cream fans will also spot a nod to the colourful, chunky Board Flip – doubling down on the dose of nostalgia. The shot Skateboard posted also calls back to promo for his adidas , with a rainbow of colourways to choose from.

As it stands, we’re still awaiting more info on the upcoming ButterSoft LV model, but stay tuned for more as it comes in as we inch closer to the designer's next PFW presentation.
