Nike Double Down on Dynamic Air With the Air Max Dn8

Nike Air Max Dn8 official annoucement

After a multitude of teasers and , Team Swoosh are finally giving the Air Max its air time. The latest addition to the Air Max fam is a direct descendant of the , and sees Beaverton continue to expand on the abilities of Air technology.

For the first time, the Dn8 sees the Dynamic Air technology extend to the forefoot of the shoe, while in its predecessor, the tube-shaped Air units were limited to the heel. This time around, the Dn8's two Air Units and eight Air tubes work in tandem to deliver a sustained and pressurised flow from toe to heel for an entirely new Air sensation.

Like the Air Max Dn, the Dn8 has been meticulously tuned. The Air Unit in the heel segment hosts two pressurised chambers, which each feature two tubes. The boffins at Beaverton have specifically tuned the rear two tubes with a higher pressure of 15psi in the back two tubes, and 5psi in the front two, which allows the air to freely flow between the two chambers. This is mirrored in the forefoot Air Units, which allows for a more even amount of bounce. Up top, the Dn8 features a breathable and lightweight upper, adding to the silhouette's airy feel.

Speaking on the Dn8's development, lead designer Jonathan Kosenick, Lead Designer at Nike Men’s Sportswear said; 'For the Dn8, we wanted to be lower to the ground. We wanted to feel more Air. We wanted to improve transition. All of those goals led us to design the shoe with eight Air chambers directly in contact with the ground, which allows the chambers to more effectively compress and be way more flexible, delivering a much bouncier, springier sensation that channels a Nike performance footwear approach into a shoe you want to wear every day.'

The first colourway of the Nike Dn8, a hot 'Hyper Pink' will land on February 6, with plenty more variations in the pipeline. Stay tuned to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
