Release Details: 9th Wonder x Nike KD 15
Patrick Denard Douthit, better known as 9th Wonder, is a hip hop producer, DJ, and rapper hailing from North Carolina. The legendary collaborator has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including and Mary J. Blige.
9th Wonder is now partnering with another superstar in their respective field, the 47-year-old artist linking up with for a rendition of the KD 15. Starting with muted colour for the base layer of textile and suede, 9th Wonder’s mismatched caged overlays provide glow-in-the-dark-esque coloured detailing for the uppers. The mismatched theme continues to the heel tabs, where bright, contrasting ‘EA$Y’ text alludes to Durant’s online moniker, Easy Money Sniper.
In the engine room down below, the KD 15 boasts full-length Cushlon foam plus a visible Air Zoom Strobel unit, while reduced layering on the uppers removes unnecessary heaviness and imbues the silhouette with a broken-in feel. In terms of the outsoles, the team at Nike have taken cues from a topographical map, with the contoured ridges distributing impact across the outsoles.
