Go Above the Clouds in Sebago Dan Lug Colab
Sydney boutique have notched up another collaboration, teaming up with for the first time on the Dan Lug loafer. A futuristic ice sole meets old-school shoemaking techniques to highlight the timelessness of good design.
The use of an ice sole is a first for Rockford, Michigan-based Sebago, who have traditionally used opaque varieties. Per its name, the Dan Lug uses rubber lugged tread – a practical choice for city streets over slippery leather soles. In ATC’s own words, the decision ‘works as an exercise of transparency, crafted to uncover the artisanal qualities associated with the shoe.’
Up top, black leather panels are expertly stitched together in classic loafer style. The toe cap stitching is tight, and the midfoot strap features its hallmark cutout slot to fit pennies. It’s from which the penny loafer name is derived, as it was believed wearers would fit pennies in the slot to use pay phones when the shoes first came into prominence in the 1950s.
