Run Forward in the Updated adidas 4DFWD with 23 Per Cent More Cushioning
Running shoes are arguably the ultimate litmus test of footwear technology, and have overcome the challenge of stuffing more advancements into their sneakers by a fair margin with the new 4DFWD. Said to pack 23 per cent more cushioning than previous iterations of the brand’s innovative material, this model promises to offer only forward propulsion.
Reportedly refined from over 18 years of real-world athlete data and five million variations of 4D’s lattice pattern, the 4DFWD represents the cutting edge of adidas’ futuristic vision toward performance tech. The midsole is created using ‘Digital Light Synthesis’ in partnership with manufacturing company Carbon, who have helped adidas develop an improved bowtie-shaped lattice structure to deliver its improved cushioning capabilities without adding bulk. These midsoles sit atop rubber soles provided by longtime suppliers Continental, whose formidable motoring tire CV has proven industry-leading.
The uppers have also been updated to combine woven Primeknit+ fabric and engineered mesh, achieving the perfect balance of breathability and support. The latter is improved via an integrated heel counter.
Members of the adidas Creators Club have already been offered early access to the 4DFWD, but a wider release will open up on September 1 directly from adidas.
