adidas Enlist Three Top Rappers to Launch Reinvented Crazy 1 and 8
have teamed up with Playboi Carti, Young Thug and 21 Savage for the release of two reinvented basketball silhouettes.
We've been waiting on specific drop details for , and can finally reveal that the three rappers will front the campaign for the forthcoming Crazy 1 ADV and ADV Pack.
The Crazy 1 was first released back in 2000 and earned its stripes in the history books as one of Kobe Bryant's first adidas shoes (in fact, it was initially named 'The Kobe', until 2006 when it was retroed and stripped of the Mamba's branding). The model was intended to embody the new millennium's futuristic spirit, and this updated Crazy 1 ADV still has that Y2K edge.
adidas have injected Kobe's old kicks with their latest tech: a neoprene sock keeps your foot locked down, while dual-density polyurethane tooling provides extra stability and comfort. Premium nubuck on the upper and a concealed lacing system finish off this black and white number. It's not particularly crazy, but it'll definitely fit in with most of your wardrobe.
The Crazy 8 ADV makes up the second half of the pack and boasts full Primeknit construction. Of course, it retains those chunky jagged overlays that have come to be synonymous with the silhouette. The shoe also makes use of the Crazy 1 ADV's concealed lacing system.
As for the rappers' contribution to the project, well, adidas interviewed the artists and asked them to share the craziest thing they've ever done. 21 Savage believes that beginning a career in rap is his wildest move to date, while Carti simply answered 'signing to adidas.' Hmm... Thugger didn't answer the question, but he advised us to take risks and never be on anyone's timeline but your own. While this might not be the best advice to follow if you work a 9 to 5, his uninhibited attitude makes him the perfect ambassador for this sweet new pack.
