CORDURA Helps the adidas Stan Smith Last Longer
The has been adored for over half a century, and in recent years it’s stayed top of mind (and foot) as a go-to casual option. Opting to move ahead of the sneaker industry’s glacial shift towards better sustainability practices, adi hypothesise that the best way to make their shoes greener is not just by using recycled materials, but to also ensure they last longer. They’re applying both of these strategies to this duo of Stans.
As part of the brand’s overarching strategy to end plastic waste, the uppers of these shoes use at least 50 per cent recycled materials. This comes in handy considering the fact that instead of the leather usually found on the Stan Smith, it’s . The abrasion-resistant textile, typically nylon – ie plastic-based – has for a long time also been remade in recycled form. Two birds, one stone – but hopefully none hurt by plastic waste.
And because CORDURA has been proven to be super durable, with continued applications in testing conditions like the outdoors and military fields, these Stan Smiths should go the distance – and beyond – under its expected street use. Which is only a good thing in this modern throwaway world.
The CORDURA-infused Stan Smith is available now in 'Bliss' and 'Simple Brown' colourways directly from adidas.
