If you didn’t already know, 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, and celebrations, parties and special events have been going down all over the globe. As sneaker culture is deeply intertwined with hip-hop, plenty of sneaker brands have of course been crafting specialty products to coincide with the megalithic anniversary. Next up, adidas has employed the expertise of a few special sneaker-sphere OGs known as ‘The Collective’ to re-release special iterations of the Rivalry Low and Conductor Hi.

Made up of four OG creatives, ‘The Collective’ includes Julia Schoierer aka SneakerQueen, vintage nerd and photographer; Ernst-Heinrich Beckmann aka Erniepunk, sneaker historian; Tom Römer aka 'Tommy Triggah’, passionate collector; and founder of the website DeFY, New York's Scott Frederick. For their latest pack, the Rivalry is inspired by how the 1986 era was obsessed with customised luxury goods, and also the silhouette’s transition from being an on-court performance shoe to a stylish street-ready heater. The Conductor Hi looks to the New York Knicks 1979 season when the team changed their colours, and it’ll also come with a NYC-inspired subway token keychain with three sets of laces.

adidas and ‘The Collective’ will launch their Conductor Hi and Rivalry Low at the select retailers below on July 29.
