The adidas Triple Platforum Promises Instant Height Gain
The revamp of the over 35 years since its debut has resulted in a number of experimental and lifestyle remakes spawning for a modern audience. Despite once being a top-of-the-line basketball shoe, this Triple Platforum update all but guarantees twisted ankles for the wearer on the court. So please, rock these on the streets, where they’re intended to be worn.
The Triple Platforum, as its name suggests, is a platform-soled version of the Forum. And this is achieved by – you guessed it – a triple-stacked midsole. Because the platform on this particular colourway is blacked-out, it may be hard to see and appreciate the fact that adidas have preserved the Dellinger Web technology peeking out on the medial arch side. Whether or not it still works with three slabs of rubber pressed together is another question, but it’s a nice detail.
Up top, the classic Forum pattern is preserved, but is mixed up with some interesting materials. The main overlays are rendered in bright yellow ripstop nylon, which is met with black mesh netting inserts on the toe box, tongue and sides. With the addition of metal eyelets and reflective woven strips, it’s an intriguing juxtaposition of function and fashion.
The adidas Triple Platforum releases on April 1 from Asphaltgold.
