The Adidas UltraBOOST Gets Mosaic Midsoles
The is one of those chameleon-like sneakers that seem to be able to undergo just about any sort of creative rearrangement. While the brand has mostly experimented on the model via its uppers, the UB’s midsoles remain a relatively untapped goldmine. That changes here with this very unique edition featuring mosaic detailing on its soles.
Before diving into that part, let’s check out the rest of the shoe. Given how busy the bottoms are, the uppers make a point of being completely stark white. The Primeknit uppers are still variably woven in the UltraBOOST 5.0 configuration for optimised breathability, stretch and durability; while the external lace cage and heel counters lock the foot down even further in tandem with the bootie fit.
Now here’s the exciting part. As its name suggests, the UltraBOOST uses BOOST midsoles. This means its surface is bumpy and full of outlined blobs, which up until now have been rendered tonally, with gradients, or sometimes printed graphics. This edition ramps up the difficulty scale and completely covers the midsole with a mosaic pattern using multiple colours and black trimming. While it’s not a case of each individual BOOST grain being traced, its surface helps really emphasise the effect.
This UltraBOOST is available now directly from adidas.
