The adidas Y-3 Kyasu Overboot Has a Secret Mule Mode
The union between and is one of the longest-standing partnerships in the sneaker game, and yet manages to feel fresh every season. Part of that comes down to some of Yamamoto’s offerings erring on the more obscure side, with silhouettes like the figure skate-like reminding us of the designer’s high fashion roots. For his latest collection, Yamamoto is elevating his chunky-soled Kyasu a step further, crafting it into an overboot that encases a hidden mule.
Building on the original Kyasu silhouette, which was introduced in the label’s AW23 presentation, the Kyasu overboot manages to retain its brutalist blocky shape, while its tight leather wrapping adds a certain sleekness. It’s this wrapping that can be unzipped to reveal the cheeky hidden mule underneath, which comes with a handstitched suede upper, a PU midsole and a playful ‘hello’ wordmark on the back of the heel. In addition, the Overboot comes peppered with other subtle branding hits, including laser-engraved Stripes on the boot’s inner and Yohji’s signature on the midsole. The Kyasu Overboot has also been designed to come in two lengths – one hitting below the knee and the other just below the calf.
For those looking for a high-fashion, boot-mule combo that’s equipped to combat the changing seasons, the Y-3 Kyasu is available to cop from adidas now.
