The Air Jordan 1 Element GORE-TEX ‘Light Curry’ Finally Arrives
The functional Element has quickly proven its mettle in just a handful of releases. experimental flip has been purpose-made for cold and wet conditions, but it doesn’t mean the model can’t come in spicy colourways like the ‘Light Curry’. After being previewed for what feels like months, a release date has finally been confirmed.
The AJ1 Element GORE-TEX one-ups the standard version – already a formidable rain shoe – with a slew of material updates. It’s given away in the name: GORE-TEX provide their eponymous waterproof-breathable membrane beneath the upper, effectively sealing all of the elements out while still allowing ventilation. This specification comes with the stipulation that the uppers need to also mechanically resist water, which is achieved via a sturdy ripstop nylon material swap on the toe and sides, plus soft leather on the main overlays. This will undoubtedly also include DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating to achieve that lauded bead-off effect when liquids land on the surface. An underrated feature of these shoes is the iced-out sections of the toe and heel on the outsole that should increase grip in these high-use areas.
The Air Jordan 1 Element GORE-TEX ‘Light Curry’ will be available via Nike on May 24.
