While the isn’t an OG colourway, it’s lauded as if it is one. Originally launching in 2015, the orange, black and white colourway was crafted to celebrate when shattered the backboard at an Italian exhibition game. The colour palette is inspired by the Stefan Trieste uniform that his airness was rocking during the 1985 game, where he scored 30 points. Ever since that first ‘Shattered Backboard’ release, has incorporated the colourway into their wider arsenal, crafting a swathe of new versions of the Air Jordan 1. The original 2015 release has also been widely regarded as one of the most premium Air Jordan 1s in the modern era.

As we creep closer to 2025, rumours have been swirling of what big retro releases we’ll receive, and according to SoleSavy, the OG ‘Shattered Backboard’ is on the cards. This isn’t a surprising development and rumour, as 2025 will mark both the tenth anniversary of the original ‘Shattered Backboard’ release and the Air Jordan 1s 40th birthday. Basically, Jordan Brand are killing two celebratory birds with one Air Jordan 1 stone. The most eyebrow raising part of this rumour is that the 2025 variation is set to return in the OG build and colourblocking.

Any imagery or official confirmation is yet to surface, but stay locked to Sneaker Freaker as we approach 2025.
