The is a model steeped in hallowed hardwood history. Originally conceived as a tribute shoe, it debuted in 1994 and was the first model released during initial retirement when he left basketball to pursue baseball. Designed by sneaker sage the 'Steel' composition was part of the OG lineup, which also included several city-themed editions like Orlando, Sacramento, and New York.

Now, it looks like this classic is making a comeback in 2025, with insiders tipping a August release. Staying true to its OG predecessor, the Air Jordan 10 ‘Steel’ is expected to arrive built with tumbled white leather and black accents on the lace loops, tongue and collar. Equipped with full-length Air cushioning in the midsole and flex grooves on the outsole for improved grip, the original 1994 edition notably featured a stitched toe cap – a detail later removed from most Air Jordan 10 releases. Sneakerheads will also be aware of the 10 lateral stripes on the sole, each representing Michael Jordan’s 10 early career milestones.

Jordan would eventually wear the Air Jordan 10 (in the ‘Chicago’ colourway) during his comeback game against the New York Knicks on March 28, 1995. Now referred to as the ‘Double Nickel’ game, Jordan torched the Knicks defence scoring 55 points – the most he had ever dropped against New York. He also found Bill Wennington for a game-winning assist that sealed the Bulls’ 113-111 victory.

The Air Jordan 10 ‘Steel’ is expected to land on August 2. For more on the Jumpman, make sure to check out Jordan retro scheduled for 2025!
