Release Date Announced: The $500 Air Jordan 11 Adapt 'Legend Blue'
The is back in 'Legend Blue', baby! The first-ever sneaker to feature power lacing technology, the AJ 11 Adapt is a high-tech, high-price sneaker that and has returned for a second go-around in 2021, indicating that it might be a special yearly holiday release in the vein of the original .
What do you get when you plunk down 500 big ones for the Air Jordan 11 Adapt? You get a high-tech hands-free lacing system that's powered by a motor in the midsole, and can be controlled by an app on your phone. You can use this app to loosen or tighten the fit, enable an adaptive system that responds to your movements and even change the colour of the lights on the midsole – which can also be used to adjust the fit manually. This motor is refuelled by a wireless charging pad that comes packaged with the shoes themselves.
Though this new 'Legend Blue' sneaker borrows its moniker from the popular (itself a renamed take on the OG AJ 11 'Columbia'), it's entirely different in its build. Sure, there are hits of cool blue to be had, but they appear on an upper that's constructed of gridded ripstop material instead of ballistic mesh. Mudguards are altered as well, swapping out patent leather for nubuck, and standard laces are nowhere to be found as they're replaced by high-tensile wires. A semblance of familiarity is served up by the icy blue outsoles, though.
If you want to (power) lace up the Air Jordan 11 Adapt 'Legend Blue', you'll be able to do so when it drops on December 28. Be sure to save that holiday cash too, as you'll need to shell out $500 for a pair.
