While Air Jordan 1s and Air Jordan 4s continue to dominate the retro market, Jordan Brand are starting to bring back more slept on J’s of the past. The Jumpman are set to bring back to Air Jordan 17 Low in the ‘Lightning’ colourway for the very first time.

Gracing the feet of MJ during his tenure as a Washington Wizard, his Airness rocked this sneaker famously during his first All-Star appearance with the Wizards in 2002. The bright yellow accents stand out against the supple white leather and black bootie ankle sleeve which can be tucked in to make it look more like a low.

As far as the tech, it’s still unknown if the AJ17 Low will be using the same build as the original, but expect a Zoom unit in the forefoot and an Air unit in the heel, as a carbon fibre shank plate is used for rigidity and a TPU counter that surrounds the back half of the midsole. Finishing off the sneaker is a two-piece decoupled outsole.

The biggest surprise is that the AJ17 Low will come with a metal briefcase as the AJ17 Low originally came in a regular box but the mid-cut AJ17 famously came with the sleek silver briefcase.

The Air Jordan 17 Low ‘Lightning’ is set to return on May 30, 2024, via SNKRS and at select retailers for $300. Check out the photos from Quentin Richardson above and keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for any updates.
