Air Jordan 20 (Stealth)
UPDATE: Official photos have popped up on Nike.com following the announcement that the Stealth XX retro will be released on the 14th of March. Gold accents now highlight the laser etched midfoot strap, bringing a little bit more colour compared to the original release.
Time flies when you're collecting sneakers! Can you guys believe that it's almost been ten years since the drop of the celebratory AJXX back in 2005? Serving as Tinker Hatfield's return to the Jordan series and a 20th anniversary victory lap for Nike and Jordan's famous (and very profitable) pairing, the Air Jordan 20 incorporated Nike's latest and greatest footwear technology back in '05. Touting a 'Welcome to the Future' marketing campaign tagline, the XX used the new Independent Podular Suspension for maximum comfort and floating ankle collar for support that created a striking silhouette. Nike's favourite cosmetic innovation back then was laser-etched upper panels thanks to Tinker Hatfield's fascination with David Monette's beautifully etched 'Presentation Trumpets', so naturally the XX sported a nubuck upper and oversized lace cover strap laser-etched with intricate designs that incorporated iconography and graphics pulled from Jordan's twenty long years with the Swoosh. Aside from the blacked-out retro released as part of the Count Down Pack celebrations for the 23rd anniversary of Jordan at Nike, this upcoming 2015 release is the first time Jordan Brand has retroed the Air Jordan XX. There are periods in the Jordan Brand legacy that hasn't aged so well, how do you guys think the AJXX holds up today? No word on a release date yet outside of a hazy of a March release schedule, but we'll keep you posted if we hear of anything!
