The Air Jordan 4 ‘Thunder’ Is Booming at JD Sports
The continues thundering into 2023. Given extra airtime thanks to the pavement-pounding crossover in March, the Air Jordan 4 is now set to bring a deluge of drip down under with the Air Jordan 4 ‘Thunder’, a colourway that initially clapped back in 2006 and 2012.
Originally released online as part of a limited edition pack back in 2006 (a rather novel concept in the early 2000s), sneakerheads had to contend with hurdles like temperamental download speeds, Team Jordan memberships, and navigating responsibilities on a Wednesday afternoon. In 2012, the ‘Thunder’ release saw significantly fewer technical hurdles and higher quantities, yet again flying off the shelves thanks to its bold, take-no-prisoners yellow and black colourway.
Flash forward to 2023, and JD Sports are giving sneakerheads another chance at copping the modern classic. Featuring the fan-favourite mix of premium black nubuck uppers, the Air Jordan 4 is replete with splashes of ‘Tour Yellow’ throughout the midsoles, lace eyelets and tongues. Michael Jordan’s legendary Jumpman logo also strikes the heel tabs, tongues and insoles.
A legend from 1989, the Air Jordan 4 was originally designed by Tinker Hatfield and immortalised after Michael Jordan hit ‘The Shot’ over Craig Ehlo in the 1989 NBA playoffs. Later, the sneaker gained pop cultural momentum after Spike Lee utilised the shoe for his seminal film Do the Right Thing.
