The ‘Infrared’ colourway remains one of the most iconic in sneaker history. Officially designated as #FF2247, the colourway debuted in 1990 and has since graced several Nike and silhouettes. Perhaps most notably was on the – which was first worn by during his championship-clinching run in 1991. The model famously featured black leather uppers with striking 'Infrared' accents on the midsoles, tongues, and heel tabs.

Now, it looks like the ring-clinching Air Jordan 6 ‘Black Infrared’ is set for another retro treatment. This would be a welcome sight for sneakerheads, given that its last appearance was during NBA All-Star Weekend in 2019. Before that, it had taken a five-year hiatus following the 2014 retro. Currently, release details are as elusive as a W on the SNKRS app, but rumours suggest the AJ6 ‘Black Infrared’ could return in 2026. Expect all the hallmarks of the OG to shine through, including black leather uppers, red accents, and classic translucent soles.
