The AMBUSH x Nike Air Force 1 ‘Phantom’ and ‘Black’ Are Set for Takeoff at Harrolds
Yoon Ahn’s ultra-cool Tokyo label continue to dig through vault for some of the footwear industry’s baddest collaborations. Working with everything from the cult classic to more mainstream models like the sneakerheads have been anxiously awaiting release details for the upcoming duo of .
Arriving in clean ‘Phantom’ and ‘Black’ iterations, the AMBUSH x Air Force 1s are emblazoned with Yoon’s now-signature oversized Swoosh, which extends well beyond the heel. Undoubtedly the colab’s most salient design aspect, this design was originally inspired by the blast pipes of Japanese Bosozoku-style bikes and cars. Continuing the theme, semi-detached heel tab panels are also made to resemble fenders.
Elsewhere, special heel counters, tongue tags and lace locks are stamped with classic AMBUSH typography, while indelible Nike Air branding, of course, strikes the heels of these AF-1s. First teased in late September 2022, this collaboration is a follow-up to the much-hyped AMBUSH x Air Force 1 ‘Pine Green’ and ‘Game Royal’ renditions, which landed in December.
This release lands deep in the midst of the Air Force 1’s 40th-anniversary celebrations, commemorating when the Bruce Kilgore-designed silhouette first took flight in 1982.
