Ride the ‘Magic Carpet’ With the amongst few x Reebok Club C
Following the narrated by founder Joe Foster, UAE boutique amongst few have revealed the full story behind their new collaboration. Dubbed the ‘Magic Carpet’, this is a playful take on the literal rich tapestry found in the Middle East, spliced into a premium pair of sneakers.
As spotted in the teaser, the English and Arabic logo panels ‘represent the cultural exchange that amongst few is built on’. What wasn’t immediately obvious were the modified perforations on the toe box that cleverly read ‘FEW’. Another quirk is the tongues are mismatched shades of creamy beige, emphasising the vintage effect on the midsoles – ‘design element[s] of the sneaker… deliberately selected to reflect the complex and intricate craftsmanship of carpet weaving’. Furthermore, instead of the usual garment leather used on the Club C, this colab swaps in Nappa leather, which is even softer. The exposed foam tongue and lack of Reebok branding is something of a daring move for the brand, and the arabesque carpet graphic on the insoles is also found on the reworked shoebox.
There’s more video content to supplement this release, as amongst few enlist fourth generation carpet maker Mojtaba Pejouheshnia to explain his craft and its connection to the new colab.
Raffles for the amongst few x Reebok Club C ‘Magic Carpet’ are currently open on their app ahead of the March 5 release.
