An On-Foot Look at the Air Jordan 1 High OG ‘Court Purple’
The pointe posed and ankle craning position of yankeekicks’ on-foot photos should now be a familiar sight for regular sneaker sleuths and social media perusers. Best known for his early reveals and impressive access to product ahead of official launch, the next pair that’s been subjected to a sneak peek pictorial is the High OG ‘Court Purple’, which isn’t due to release until June.
It’s only taken 36 years, but the lustrous accents on these AJ1s actually hark back to one of the iconic model’s , one that was perhaps long-forgotten because it’s not in Chicago Bulls livery. But with the intense focus on pulling out every last morsel of OG 1985 makeups, and the fact just about everyone wants a pair of AJ1s these days, the ‘Metallic Purple’ should be much less underrated in 2021.
There is a certain degree of period-correctness to this retro, namely down to the obvious (and very welcome) lack of Jumpman branding. It wasn’t officially used until the ! That being said, the inclusion of a leather tongue as opposed to nylon is a bit of a head scratcher. So is the sheeny lining. Oh well, trainerspotters gonna trainerspot.
