How You Can Cop Andre Agassi's Signature Air Tech Challenge II 'Hot Lava'

The signature Nike Air Tech Challenge II was debuted on the feet of Andre Agassi in the 90s in the now-iconic ‘Hot Lava’ colourway. Since its initial launch, Nike has resurrected the combo in 2008, 2014, 2016 and the latest in 2019 to coincide with the Lebron 16 ‘Hot Lava’ homage. Over two decades-old, the ‘Hot Lava’ colourway still commands plenty of respect among the sneakerheads, so we’re sure many of you would be happy to hear that Sneaker Files leaked that it’s returning to stores in 2024.

Interestingly though, early leaked word of the colours used ('Phantom', ‘Hot Lava’, black, silver, and ‘Pale Ivory’) suggests that Team Swoosh may be opting for a vintage-esque vibe. This could take place in the form of slightly yellowed midsoles and potentially cracked leather, similar to what’s been done on select Jordan Brand retros. There’s also a different SKU to the 2019 pair, further confirming that it won’t be a one-for-one remake. Despite these changes though, you can expect a full-leather upper with throwback perforations, black and grey hits with lava detailing on each side.

Nike haven’t confirmed anything as of yet or announced an exact release date, but you could expect pairs as soon as mid-2024.
