ASICS Celebrate Another GEL-Lyte III OG 30th Anniversary
have taken their time this year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of a key model from their running archive: the . Since the beginning of 2020, the Japanese brand has reissued OG colourways and premium makeups of iconic design, and now joining the party is another catalogue-correct edition.
Appearing in vibrant white nylon uppers with stark hits of neon orange and lush purple, this colourway joins the other pigment-drenched GL3s from the class of ‘89/90. On the topic of that innovative era, micofibre overlays reinforce the toe cap, heel counter, and eyestays. At the midfoot, there’s a rubberised grid mesh panel for extra ventilation, and it doubly contrasts the Tiger Stripe branding. Of course, being the GEL-Lyte III, its idiosyncratic split-tongue design sits up top for supreme fit and comfort.
Underfoot, its namesake GEL sole works as well today as it did three decades ago, and ASICS have gone the extra mile to ensure the heel segments are split into the correct proportions, and shaded as such in complementary grey and purple. Even the outsole has a hit of orange through the middle to ensure no details have been missed.
The wait is almost over. This ASICS GEL-Lyte III OG is due to return on October 6 at boutiques like Asphaltgold.
