The ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Lives the Luxe Life
When released the as their flagship runner back in 2008, the brand likely didn’t anticipate its revival as a lifestyle favourite over a decade later. Now that it’s been reissued under the Sportstyle line, the model is able to undergo more premium material explorations designed for more languid lifestyles. Out now are two new luxurious remakes featuring little mesh and a lot of leather.
As its name suggests, the GEL-Kayano 14 has plenty of GEL cushioning, which is clearly visible in its midsole at the heel and forefoot. These editions render it tonally to the foam structure around it, but the glossy finish of the GEL makes it still perceptible. The upper is where the most dramatic changes have been made, as the usual mesh inserts in the toe box and side panels have been replaced with supple suede that’s been heavily perforated to maintain breathability. The other tasteful change is the quilted textile lining, a detail that won’t be noticed by anyone but the wearer. On the colourway front, tonal palettes of off-white and black are easy to wear options.
These two ASICS GEL-Kayano 14s are available now from atmos in Japan, so these could be a regional exclusive.
