The ASICS Gel Kayano 14 Isn’t Slowing Down
The supersonic shows no signs of slowing down in 2023. De rigueur for brands like ASICS, Y2K nostalgia has certainly empowered various models throughout the brand’s deep archive, but no other silhouette has capitalised as much as the Recently tapped by Montreal moodboard maestros in the obligatory metallic makeup, the model is now being blasted with lime green hues to bolster its GR lineup.
Coming with all the OG hallmarks of Kayano 14, the model was the first in its lineage to be designed by someone other than the godfather Toshikazu Kayano. The contemporary update mirrors the retro tooling with GEL cushioning, whilst improving the overall fit of the uppers. The layered leather and mesh construction from 2008 still does much of the sneaker’s heavy lifting.
Additionally, the sockliner is now produced with a solution dyeing process that reduces water usage by 33 per cent and carbon emissions by approximately 45 per cent.
