‘Piedmont Grey’ Hits the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14

The 14 has caught a second wind in the 2020s as a lifestyle hero following its debut back in 2008 for serious runners. The former flagship of the Japanese brand’s performance category now sits underneath the Sportstyle category, which means new colourways have entered the fold while evoking the athletic aesthetic of the OGs. Out now is this understated ‘Piedmont Grey’ edition.
The GEL-Kayano 14 is loaded with a generous amount of its namesake GEL cushioning inserts throughout its foam midsole, popping out at the heel and forefoot. This colourway sees minty teal shading the squishy stuff and the accent is matched on the upper branding and tongue lining. Despite its new urban terrain and more sedate pace, the sporty mix of its microfibre and crisp mesh in its namesake ‘Piedmont Grey’ not only makes this colourway look straight outta ASICS’ summer 2008 brochure, but it could still munch plenty of miles too. And in spite of its age, the dense layers and seamless branding gives the design its futuristic stance and fits right into today’s contemporary sneaker styles.
