A fundamental force in the sharp upswing in recent years, the Bulgarian-born wunderkind and his design studio continue to reframe classic ASICS shapes within his esoteric design vernacular. Hooking up back in 2018, the partnership was launched to connect fashion-forward audiences beyond ASICS' traditional athletic consumer base, a move that has no doubt paid dividends. Bridging the tough gap between performance footwear and high fashion, Kiko’s design studio and ASICS continue to deliver eye-catching models, and the latest duo of colourways take on the ASICS UB7-S

Reinterpreting the GT-2000 series, a staple of ASICS' performance running line, the UB7-S GT-2160 embraces a complex, layered design, and features everything from mesh and synthetic leather to rubberised overlays. The intricate panelling is this time rendered in two distinct colourways: ‘Dark Neptune/Pure Silver’ and ‘Lava Orange/Jasper Green’. Extolling the complex design language of the UB7-S GT-2160, the colourways both derive inspiration from the Japanese Mino ceramics, which is known for its beautiful rust-like qualities and colour degradation. One of Japan’s most celebrated and historically significant forms of pottery, Mino ceramics have been produced for over a thousand years, and they hold a crucial place in Japanese cultural and artistic heritage.

Both colourways of the ASICS UB7-S curated by Kiko Kostadinov Studio are set to blast off on August 23. For more on ASICS, make sure to check out collaboration from the Aussie folks over at Above The Clouds!
