BAPE Borrow Some Familiar Colours for New ROAD STAs
Given the fact that most recognisable sneaker designs are based on other famous models, it’s perhaps unsurprising that their latest colourways for the are derived from some familiar combos. After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery…
The ROAD STA is a 2000s model that’s something of a parody of iconic running shoes from the late 1980s and 1990s. BAPE recently reintroduced the model to the assortment, and every edition has been pretty loud so far. This continues with this tan, orange, blue, and black combo that the brand is simply calling ‘Cream Color’. More informed sneakerheads will instantly see the parallels to the – down to the speckled midsole.
The other colourway that’s just launched also seems to borrow from the Swoosh playbook. This ‘Deep Purple’ edition is actually a dank mix of dark olive suedes mixed with teal trim and additional purple accents, which some will recognise as the combo used on the from 2010. There’s no stash pouch here but, like the Mowabb-ish edition, there is some speckled midsole detailing.
Both of these new ROAD STAs are now available directly from BAPE for the not insignificant price of $406.
