BAPE’s Spring 2021 Lineup is Stacked!
Over the past two months, have been sharing news about a few new additions to their footwear catalogue, some subtle tweaks to their famed BAPE STA silhouette, and the return of a few older models. Another highlight has been their link-up with , which saw them rework the with their signature insignia. If you missed out, don’t fret, because the Japanese Streetwear behemoth has sent over their Spring 2021 footwear catalogue and it’s looking spicy!
While their main concentration seems to be on the BAPE STA, the team at BAPE have also brought back the SK8 STA, two high-top models named the BLOCK STA HI and STA 93 HI, and the COURT STA.
BAPE STA
Originally dropping in 2000, the BAPE STA was a defining silhouette for the brand. Nigo, the original owner of BAPE, helped bring the shoe into the limelight, as it adorned the feet of rappers and streetwear’s upper echelon in the early 2000s. Fast forward to 2021, and the BAPE STA is still a favourite silhouette among collectors, sneakerheads, and streetwear fanatics. After being tweaked slightly, A Bathing Ape wanted to bring back the OG design of the BAPE STA, which will return this year in three subtle colourways: black, white and wheat.
BAPE SK8 STA
Within the first few days of 2021, BAPE announced the big news that they were bringing back the SK8 STA! Similar to its cohort the BAPE STA, which exudes major Nike Air Force 1 energy, the SK8 STA pulls design cues from the , which is experiencing a major renaissance at the moment. Three colourways have come to light, and each is as wearable as the next. Will you be skating these?
BAPE STA 93 HI
Now for some high-top action! BAPE didn’t skimp on the BAPE STA 93 HI, with the Light Grey/Black pair rocking a full leather build that features faux crocodile touches. The Light Sand/Orange combo is also reminiscent of iconic 2007 BAPE STA design that heralded critical acclaim among hip hop fans and sneakerheads alike. Both feature side cages that surround the luxe leather, with 93 plastered on a rubber badge along the lateral heel.
BAPE COURT STA
Coming through with a basketball inspired low-top, the BAPE COURT STA goes for the muted look. The Light Grey/Cream boasts a leather construction, while the Mist Grey/Royal Purple adds some suede into the mix. Both have the well-known BAPE ABC camouflage print hot pressed into the overlays, which elevates the otherwise muted colourways.
BAPE BLOCK STA HI
Looking like a high-top rendition of the BAPE STA, the BLOCK STA HI gives off a chunky but funky energy. The Black/Lime iteration allows for that STA logo to pop, while the Light Grey/Dark Green pair is for those who like something a little more subtle. These also rock a 93 badge along the heel, similar to the BAPE STA 93 HI, but rock a velcro strap along the tongue for a point of difference.
The whole footwear collection has been locked in to drop on February 6 at BAPE brick and mortar locations and their online store.
