BAPE Release Outdoors-Inspired BAPE STAs
are going full steam ahead on their signature sneaker and have a new duo inspired by the great outdoors. Some more discerning sneakerheads may accuse the brand of leaning heavily on the stylings of another popular company in order to create these colourways – but it’s hard not to do so, because they’re pretty fresh combinations.
Both pairs use suede for the entirety of their uppers, which is always welcome on the BAPE STA. The first pair is a dark mix of grey, purple and black with hot pink contrasting STA logos. Some extra midsole splatter is included for good measure.
The second pair is relatively brighter with its teal overlays, but tones it back slightly with beige and brown panels, though yellow logos pop the palette once again. Again, splatter midsoles feature, but purple outsoles and lining help the pastel theme.
The BAPE STAs are finished with hiking-style rope laces and metal top eyelets for durability – not that they’ll ever see any off-road action. Don’t be fooled by the picturesque Mount Fuji photoshoot, but it is a nice idea. This model’s strong point has always been style, and that’s about it. They’re available now from BAPE direct.
