Billy’s Add to Store-Exclusive New Balance 574 Collection
are rounding out a series of Japanese retailer-exclusive as part of the ‘Tokyo Limited Edition’ pack, joining and . A consistent theme between these individual collaborations has been a healthy reverence for the 2000s – a period where the 574 was particularly popular in Japan – expressed through the colourways and modified features of the model.
Billy’s have taken their lookbook for this SMU to the next level by featuring vintage hunters Blue Room, who have styled the 574s with archival streetwear pieces from the early 2000s, such as baggy blue jeans, WTAPS cargo pants, and OG Stussy and Subware outerwear. This sort of dress sense was distinctly Tokyo almost 20 years ago, and these 574s are keeping that spirit alive.
As for the colourway itself, the mustard and navy combination is a unique mix of shades that have previously featured on the 574 separately but, until now, not together. The essential suede and mesh mix is maintained, and changes beneath the surface – including padded tongues and elastic tabs – are nods to the 574’s earlier build.
