‘Blue Bird’ is an Essential adidas NMD Colourway
Ever wondered what that specific shade of blue use on all of their retro shoeboxes is known as? It’s known as ‘Blue Bird’, and has been a staple shade of the brand for decades. And here it is again on their modern classic sneaker known as the .
2015 may not feel like that long ago, but in this short time the NMD has established itself as one of the defining designs of the contemporary era in sneakers. As it was born out of heritage Three Stripes models like the Boston Super, Rising Star and Micropacer, it makes perfect sense that the NMD is also linked to an archival brand colour. Which, by the way, has appeared on the model before, dating all the way back to its ‘OG’ launch colourway on the heel midsole block.
This new release instead dips the entire mesh upper in ‘Blue Bird’, with a fair bit bleeding over into the BOOST midsoles, which fades into crisp white. This accent colour also blocks out the Three Stripes branding in a classic two-toned move. Some plain grey ties the remaining panels together, before making way for the alternative tongue label depicting a running pictogram.
The adidas NMD ‘Blue Bird’ is available now from adidas Australia, with global stock en route.
