Originally founded by Christian ‘Fu’ Boszczyk and Dusan ‘Duki’ Cvetkovic, German retailer continue to pay homage to the rich history of European club basketball. Previously linking up with the likes of Real Madrid, KK Split, and Panathinaikos B.C, the hoops aficionados are now partnering with FC Bayern Munich for a burgundy and white edition of the Centennial.

As well as the team kit colour palette, the collaboration is of course replete with co-branded details, including logos on the tongues, insoles and heel cups. Interestingly, Bayern’s crest has changed several times across the club’s history. While the original crest was blue, the current iteration features the colours of Bavaria in its centre (red, white and blue), with FC Bayern München written in white on a red ring. In terms of materials, the Centennial is this time manufactured with shaggy suede, a divergence from previous leather editions.

Zooming in on the particular model itself, the adidas Centennial first arrived in 1985 as a performance basketball shoe and evidently shares many common design denominators with other 1980s Team Trefoil classics like the Forum and Decade.

Accompanying a broader collection featuring jerseys, tees, track jackets and more, the full BTSN adidas FC Bayern Munich capsule will be available on BTSN on September 14. A wider global release is expected to launch two days later. For more on the beautiful game, make sure to check out the football.
