Carhartt WIP and Converse Continue Chuck 70 Colabs
Workwear-turned-streetwear brand are forming another union with heritage sneaker makers . Opting for the venerable – seemingly a favourite model for the two collaborators – this straightforward remake sees Carhartt WIP’s idiosyncratic ‘Hamilton Brown’ and ‘Covert Green’ textures reupholstering the classic Converse’s canvas uppers.
Astute followers of the brands may recall a similar execution in (and again in 2020) that featured the same colours, albeit on the Chuck 70 Low. This time, it’s the High, which allows for a bit more real estate to be renovated. However, Carhartt WIP and Converse apply the K.I.S.S. principle and merely embrace the extra ankle height with more canvas. The square Carhartt logo is also shifted to the top of the tongue to get some airtime. In fact, this colab may be even more stripped back due to the stark midsoles that are shaded in mildly pre-vintaged shades of ‘Egret’. That being said, a nice subtle touch is the contrast foxing strip on the ‘Hamilton Brown’ pair, added to match its upper, while the ‘Covert Green’ keeps to the usual black configuration.
The Carhartt WIP x Converse Chuck 70s will be available from the Converse webstore and selected retailers on February 4.
