Carhartt WIP and Converse Cons Celebrate Their Skate Heritage With the Fastbreak and One Star

Apart from the appealing alliteration provided by their names, Carhartt WIP and Converse Cons share a rich history in skateboarding. It's been 25 years since Carhartt WIP fielded their first skate team in 1997, and since then many WIP riders have also joined the Converse family. Now, the two are celebrating that synergy with a duo of special skate sneakers: the Fastbreak and the One Star.

Both were born as classic basketball shoes – Michael Jordan even wore the Fastbreak during his time at UNC and during the 1984 Olympic trials – and each features an upgraded construction to withstand the rigours of skating. Both shoes supply uppers crafted from tan, bone and white leathers and suedes, while black midsoles and tongues bring some contrast into the look. A gum outsole serves extra old-school flair on each, but is more noticeable on the One Star thanks to its famous toe bumper.

From a performance tech standpoint, each shoe bolsters its comfort and shock absorption with a new-jack CX foam insole, and adds grip tape-resistant traction by using CONS' proprietary rubber blend on the outsole. Leather liners and co-branded tongue badges round off both styles.

You can expect the Carhartt WIP x Converse CONS Fastbreak and One Star to release at the retailers listed below on July 31. The Fastbreak is priced at $110 while the One Star slides in at $100.
