CAYL Scale the New Balance 1906R

The has enjoyed a superlative run in recent years. A modern runner from NB’s 2009 catalogue, the model originally struggled to gain traction in the market, but has become a pace setter in recent years thanks largely to heavyweight collaborations with the likes of and among many others.

The latest team to jump on the 1906R’s rollicking bandwagon is South Korean label CAYL, aka Climb As You Love. Previously linking up with New Balance for the and the CAYL crew have now set their sites on the 1906R, with a teal, grey and black combo recently surfacing online. It looks like CAYL also have a second, regal gold rendition lined up for sneakerheads, with the eye-catching colourway accented with black detailing. The CAYL remix swaps the traditional 1906R materials for a fully nylon upper, with graphic replacements for the overlays and a geometric grid pattern throughout. CAYL’s utilitarian ethos is present throughout, with cord laces, pull tabs and snap closures emphasising its GORPcore credentials. In terms of branding, CAYL’s mountain logo is stamped on the heels and tongues.
