CDG and Vans Go Hard on the Old Skool Sole Branding
are no strangers to sneaker colabs, and over the past week the legendary Japanese brand has been in the headlines for their work with , and with on the . Now, the imprint has tapped for a collaborative with their sub-label CDG.
Dubbed Comme des Garçons CDG, it’s one of their many diffusion lines within the high-fashion universe that they’ve created. It focuses heavily on its logo, creating simple, staple pieces of clothing, accessories and sneakers, plastering their recognisable brand all-over for quite a striking look. Other diffusion lines that have received notable sneaker collaborations include: Homme Plus on the infamous translucent , Shirt on the loud , and Black on the . Usually these would be a little less hyped than their mainline counterparts due to the out-there avant-garde look.
This logo-adorned Old Skool isn’t CDG’s first Vans colab, in 2019 they linked on the and . Following the same brief as the others, this one boasts the regular Old Skool build, with the usual black colourway alongside white side stripes, laces, and midsole. As you can expect, the upper has been crafted using suede and canvas, with the only alteration to the design being the repeated CDG branding along the midsole.
Posting these to IG a few days ago, CDG announced that their Vans Old Skools will be limited, and will hit their webstore, as well as select global locations, on February 5.
