Closer Look: Air Jordan 1 Low OG ‘Shattered Backboard’ Releases Soon
We’ve seen the for the upcoming ‘Shattered Backboard’, and more closer look imagery has filtered through ahead of the drop. For the uninitiated, the colour scheme takes cues from the Stefanel Trieste uniform that Michael Jordan rocked during a Nike exhibition game in 1985 when he literally shattered the backboard with a slam dunk.
The ‘Shattered Backboard’ combo is one of the most famous colourways on the roster, and has arrived in various iterations over the years, including an ‘Shattered Backboard 3.0’ with textured patent leather. Now, that scheme is hitting the low-cut silhouette of MJ’s first signature model. Despite the popular ‘Shattered Backboard’ colourway rocking the orange, black and white, Jordan actually shattered that backboard in 1985 while wearing an OG pair of the AJ1 ‘Chicago’. And that exact sneaker recently sold for a total of $500,000 in a collaborative auction with Stadium Goods and Christie’s – complete with real glass from the backboard still lodged in its sole. Crazy, ey?!
