Unveiled in Aoyama, Tokyo, as part of Comme des Garçons Homme Plus' Fall/Winter 2021, the design replaces the traditional striped molded foam uppers with a swirling pattern reminiscent of water droplets in a pond. Blended with CdG’s signature monochromatic palettes, the silhouette is manufactured with rubber outsoles and smooth leather overlays.
Originally released in 1997, the legendary basketball silhouette made waves thanks to Penny Hardaway’s adoption in the late 90s.
‘There was this notion of what if you literally just dipped your foot in this liquid bath of material and it just sucked around your foot?’ designer Eric Avar revealed during the sneaker’s initial release. ‘And what if you could go play basketball in that?’
No release details have yet been confirmed, but make sure to keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
