The 3-in-1 CLOT x Nike ‘Clotez’ Is Inspired by Yin-Yang Philosophy
Edison Chen’s imprint are back with another neck-craning collaboration with the 3-in-1 ‘Clotez’ inspired by the Yin-Yang philosophy. The ideology, a central component of CLOT’s recent collaborations, this time serves as a jumping point for exploring tai chi and the notions of fluidity and change.
Enlisting the help of local Hong Kong artist Harry Wong, the ‘Clotez’ silhouette takes aesthetic cues from Wong’s Air Max design titled ‘Kung Fu Soul’, a design submitted for the Nike On Air contest in 2018.
Exploring the idea of the tai chi diagram (also known as the Yin-Yang symbol’), the ‘Clotez’ can be worn as is or taken apart, converting into two totally separate shoes – including a sneaker and a slip-on.
Featuring a black and white design alongside a drawstring featuring the Yin-Yang symbol, the collaboration also includes the Chinese characters ‘功’ and ‘夫’ (Kung Fu) embroidered at the heel.
The sneaker version of the silhouette, meant as an indoor house shoe, features a black Swoosh on white leather. The black matte slip-on comes with serrated bottoms for maximum grip. Each ‘Clotez’ slip-on also comes with removable insoles for extra comfort.
The CLOT x Nike ‘Clotez’ in black and white is set for release on February 10, 2023, at selling doors worldwide.
