Comfort is Key for the New Li-Ning Yun You
have released a new model over the weekend named the Yun You, just in time for Halloween revellers. While the timing of this announcement seems a bit on-the-nose due to its unconventional appearance, the amount of tech the Chinese brand has put into this design intends it to be worn more than just once a year.
By Li-Ning’s own self-aware admission in their press release, this is a ‘highly experimental silhouette’ that ‘pairs a breathable self-adapting knit upper with an architecturally sculpted bottom portion’. In less technical terms, the Yun You features a stretch mesh bootie upper that’s become quite ubiquitous in the past half-decade or so, and it’s connected to a rocker-style foam midsole that’s made from Li-Ning’s proprietary BOOM foam.
What the PR doesn’t mention is the fluffy fleece midfoot strap and collapsible heel counter – suppose the Energizer bunny has had a post-battery career and pivoted into sneakers, especially in the case of that all-pink colourway. There’s also a lime green option that looks like some congealed Slurm, but would also complete a great futuristic Grinch costume come Christmas time or next . Otherwise, there are some safe (read: boring) all-black and all-white (sans fleece) editions.
The Yun You is available now from Li-Ning.
