Comme des Garçons Revive Nike's Air Presto Foot Tent
Tinker Hatfield said in an interview with Sneakers that the Air Presto Foot Tent was ‘one of [his] worst projects of all time’. We’re not surprised, then, that has exhumed the silhouette from the graveyard — they have a propensity for left-of-centre choices, after all.
The Japanese brand brought the model back to the runway last year, and now we’ve got official images. And we have to say, we can see where Tinker was coming from. It’s... ah... interesting. It features the same heel and sole unit as the OG Presto, but the usual lace system is supplanted by a hovering shroud and support poles. You know, like a tent.
In the same interview, Hatfield said of people trying to bring the polarising design back: ‘Please don’t’. Sorry Tinker, it’s happening.
If you can look past all that and want to dip your toes into the avant-garde, black/‘Volt’ and teal/red will be available from January 12.
