Japanese fashion monolith are back with another collaboration, this time on the . It’s a lesser seen model for joint efforts, but CdG have squeezed as much variation out of it as they can, while retaining the original DNA. That approach falls in line with the ideology of brand founder Rei Kawakubo who embraces the idea that it is not possible to make something completely new. There are plenty of familiar sights on this AF-1, namely the raw edges and exposed foam seams that have highlighted the deconstructed sneaker trend that high-fashion labels like CdG and , among others, have indulged in. The deconstruction continues with unlined innards, which means these could fit differently to usual AF-1s.
The Comme des Garçons x Nike Air Force 1 Mid releases on October 23 at CdG and Dover Street Market locations, and a wider drop at CdG stockists is expected to follow. The size run is a very generous 5 to 13 US men’s (6.5 to 14.5 US women’s).
