Confirmed: Drake Designed an Air Max Plus for Nike
Designer of the OG and current VP of design and innovation at , Sean McDowell, has confirmed that Drake made TNs for Nike. Taking to IG, McDowell posted images of the TNs and said they were ‘Drake’s spin on the OG’.
Before you get too excited, these aren’t a colab. They don’t even seem to be limited-edition. This pair has been floating around for a couple of weeks and isn’t billed as anything to do with the rapper. Rather, it’s meant to be part of a Frequency pack that also features an and an Air Max Plus 97. The yellow and black design is redolent of Drake’s OVO owl, and the mixtape on the insole does give the release a certain hip-hop theme, but these might be like the : a release Drake was working on before he began his tryst with adidas.
Regardless, this is a solid opportunity to enjoy Drake’s handiwork without running the usual gamut. You can grab pairs from select Nike accounts on August 31.
