Alexis Sablone Gets a Signature Sneaker in the Converse CONS AS-1
Professional skateboarder and team rider Alexis Sablone has taken a road less travelled to get to where she’s at today. The Olympian, architect, and artist tapped her eclectic background to help co-design her signature sneaker, the Converse AS-1, which is set to drop next week.
Taking inspiration from past basketball and skateboarding silhouettes, the sneaker was designed to blend innovative performance solutions and classic styling. The launch white/green colourway features an all-white leather construction with green accenting throughout, most prominently seen on the Converse Chevron on the quarter panel. Sablone’s name and logo are debossed on the tongue, with AS-1 branding debossed on the ankle collar. Converse CONS branding is seen on the heeltab with green TPU panels placed on the forefoot to be used as an ollie guard and help make the sneaker more durable.
The first cupsole designed performance sneaker for Converse CONS, a CX foam sockliner is used for cushioning and impact protection without losing board feel. Sablone fine-tooled the visible herringbone outsole to help optimize grip, which finishes off the sneaker.
The Converse CONS AS-1 drops on May 2, 2023, for $80 in the launch white/green colourway via with more colourways to follow on June 2, 2023.
