Rooted in Nature: The Crocs Juniper ‘Taro’ Is Ready For Harvest
The is no shrinking violet. Sprouting from the mind of creative polymath , Crocs’ flagship sneaker was inspired by his diehard love of hiking and the great outdoors. Having already released in and , the latest addition is inspired by the vibrant hues of the starchy taro root. There’s plenty to explore on the ‘Taro’, starting with the sole where Bembury’s fingerprints are quite literally all over it.
Featuring a dramatic topographical pattern taken from Bembury’s own fingertips, the moulded outsole appears in earthy brown tones, evoking the taro’s rugged outer skin. The purple shade of the taro root, often marked by root-like strands, extends to the cosy mesh and neoprene inners. The superlight, antibacterial, UV resistant, and odour resistant Croslite uppers this time take on dynamic teal hues, while the signature Crocs lace tag oozes in slimy green.
Beyond the colourway, the Juniper’s overall design celebrates nature thanks to its uniquely moulded build and resulting organic shape. Here, Crocs and Bembury have kept interference to a minimum, allowing the teal-toned uppers to flow with inbuilt eyestays instead of the usual separate, reinforced versions you’d see on a typical sneaker. And while the Juniper’s upper isn’t as simple as the one-piece mould used for the Classic or Pollex Clog, the usual Crocs charm ripples through thanks to its inimitable sole unit. Finally, practical additions come in the form of a meshy cushioned collar and padded tongue, as well as ventilation holes at the heel and toe box and a sneaker-like lace fastening for a secure fit.
The ‘Taro’ Crocs Juniper sneaker is almost ready to harvest, as pairs will be popping up at Crocs on November 16. Hit the link below to secure yours on the day.
