Damian Lillard’s adidas x Reebok Shaqnosis is a Curious Crossover
With the impending transition of from over to , the final Three Stripes–mandated projects are essentially on their farewell tour. Part of this prolonged send-off has been the intriguing cross-pollination of master and servant, which has ranged from properly chimeric mergers of signature technologies like the , to some one-sided co-branded offerings. One such example of the latter is this Reebok that has been reworked by adidas basketball athlete Damian Lillard, resulting in a personalised colourway with some third party branding.
Lillard currently plays for the Portland Trail Blazers, whose team kit is red and black, thus inspiring the colourway of this Shaqnosis. The iconic Reebok model is one of the most memorable basketball shoes of the 1990s, thanks to its concentric upper design resembling that of a hypnosis wheel. While its OG black and white colourway is true to its brain-controlling likeness, the red and black rework is just as visually striking. The Trail Blazers references are continued with the contrast triple eyelets at the top of the ankles, and the adidas treatment is confirmed via Lillard’s D logo on the heel, plus the adidas performance logo embroidered into the medial side. In light of this, it’s very possible the Shaqnosis could’ve been an adidas EQT model in the 1990s – the alternative timeline is eerily plausible.
The adidas x Reebok Shaqnosis will release on September 1 from Overkill.
