Amsterdam Designer Daniëlle Cathari Dips the New Balance 991v2 in Matcha

Updated February 7, 2023: KITH have finally revealed the release details for Daniëlle Cathari's New Balance 991v2. The matcha-themed pair is now available via a raffle on KITH's app, and they will also be available in limited quantities at the KITH Women's flagship on February 9. Updated February 6, 2023: Having taken on the role of creative director for KITH Women late last year, it was only right that the brand’s account was the first to post the official images of the upcoming Daniëlle Cathari x New Balance 991v2. Boasting matcha green and coffee brown hues, the Made in UK silhouette is still set to touch down on February 9. Expect KITH to open the raffle tomorrow (February 10). Other retailers are still TBC.

Daniëlle Cathari, an Amsterdam-based designer and collaborator, has joined forces with New Balance for the first time to reimagine the 991v2 silhouette. Cathari has previously released projects with adidas and Clarks, as well as conceptualised her own apparel and footwear under her eponymous label.

Cathari has given the classic model a matcha-inspired makeover for her commemorative drop with the American footwear brand. The upper is composed of brown mesh and matcha-green suede overlays, meanwhile, the vamp is dressed in a dark grey hue. A different shade of grey dons the ’N’ logo on the lateral, as well as the eyestays and a small section of the heel. Elsewhere, the midsole arrives in a two-tone design, while the outsole sports a black shade. Rounding off the design is the tongue tab patch featuring embroidered co-branding.

Cathari has confirmed that her New Balance 991v2 will be released on February 9. However, a price point has not been disclosed. Stay locked to Sneaker Freaker for more updates.
