Dingyun Zhang Drops Two Crisp adidas Sambas
After debuting the x earlier this year in May, the Chinese-Mongolian designer is continuing his dalliance with the Three Stripes to produce two more iterations of the classic model. The first pair had a lustrous murdered-out design that incorporated Zhang’s signature shiny and puffy aesthetic, and while the two new ones aren't shiny, they still retain that full-bodied look.
Constructed completely in plush suede, both pairs look like they’ve been eating good at grandma’s house with a more chunky look compared to the original Samba. Paired with the soft material, this gives it a cosy and comfy vibe while still being luxe in its finishes. One pair is coated in all white, giving it a dreamy cloud vibe, whereas the other is in a woody and Autumnal brown with striking red tongues and laces. Grey takes over on the sock liner and heel cup though, which sits as a good transition colour between the brown and red. Both iterations feature subtle co-branding on the tongue, with the collaborative mark mainly coming through with the design language.
The Dingyun Zhang x adidas Sambas in ‘White’ and ‘Brown’ are set to release on October 18 directly through adidas, and if it’s the same as the first release, they will also drop via Dingyun Zhang’s website and WeChat for customers in China. Beware though, with the chunkier build comes a chunkier price: $250.
